Watercolor paper
The 3 primary colors and 1 round synthetic brush. That's all you need to get started... besides paper. But, dear beginner, paper is the BIG star of watercolor, so please don't skimp on this item. Because the results will be terrible and you'll think it was you, and you'll give up. And no, it wasn't you: it was the cheap paper.
DO NOT skimp on the quality of the paper: cut it, use both sides to practice, use every small space to practice strokes... but don't skimp on the quality of the paper.
In general, ALWAYS look for watercolor paper that is 100% cotton and with a grammage of 300 g/m2. End of story.
Here I only propose my favorite in terms of quality/price: a cold-pressed Rembrandt made with high-quality cotton rags (100%). The paper has a fine-grain texture, which makes it suitable for various watercolor and gouache techniques.
This paper pad has 20 sheets of watercolor paper with a grammage of 300 g/m². Each sheet is glued on all four sides to provide stability and ensure a uniform surface. To separate the sheets, there is an opening at the front of the glued surface where you can carefully start cutting the sheet from the pad with something sharp you have at hand, such as a small cutter, a palette knife, or similar.
Rembrandt watercolor paper is acid-free, pH-neutral, and buffered to ensure the paper's resistance and the work's durability. Since this paper is made of 100% cotton, it does not yellow over time and is extremely strong.
